italy

Have you ever thought about traveling to Italy? Well I will be getting an idea , first hand ,when I go with my family to Italy this summer. On June 29th , we get on a plane ,fly to Minneapolis and then fly eight hours to Paris and then fly into Naples, Italy. I have never have flown that long on a plane. My whole family will be going on this trip and I am looking forward to be with them.

While an eight hour flight my be long for me , it will be pure torture for my little sister who is only six. She could barely handle a three hour flight to Florida . She kept asking , ''Are we there yet?" after about two hours. So, the torture will also be mine when she starts that on this trip. Good thing they will be playing a movie on the plane. Of course, I will have my I Pod.

Once the flight is over and we land safely , then the real fun will begin . We are traveling with a tour guide and forty other people. I think this will be good because nobody in my family speaks Italian. I am, however, half Italian. I know, with the red hair and freckles it's hard to tell . I look forward to seeing all the beautiful land and art like the Sistine Chapel in Rome that was done by Michelango. I have seen pictures of this, and it will be really cool to actually see it in person.

Out of all the places to see in Italy, I am most looking forward to seeing the ruins in Pompei, and then going to the colosseum in Rome. I can't imagine what it would be like to be a gladiator and fight in front of all those people. It seems so crazy that people enjoyed watching them fight in the colosseum like they were watching a big screen TV. I can't imagine living back then.

While I now look forward to seeing the different places like the colosseum, I have to admit that at first I really did not want to go on this trip. I actually kept complaining because I thought it was going to be vey boring. My parents talked me to into it. Like I had a choice. They said I would see things that would change the way I look at life. When I stopped complaining and actually thought about it, I started to look forward to the experience. I am hoping to learn a lot, and I know the trip will be good with my family. Even the long plane ride with my sister.
